Open Letter to the Honorable Next President
Immigrants of all races, ages, religions and nationalities currently living in the United States, irrespective of their status, love this country and are providing very valuable services to the community. Most of these immigrants are from countries run by dictators with the support of US government. They come here seeking freedom and to support their families so that they have enough to eat and educate their children to become productive citizens of the global village. The United States, a bastion of immigrants, have the moral obligation to provide them the opportunity so that they could live without fear or intimidation.
Since 9/11 the American Administration has committed some serious mistakes. They have alienated our friends at home and abroad. They have made more enemies than fiends. They sidelined the humanity and neglected our environment. Unfortunately, even our Judges, media and Congress, protective of our rights were intimated and sidelined or became partners. The Justice Department, protective of our rights, became a tool of the Administration and failed miserably to fulfill its responsibilities. They ignored basic fundamentals of our values for which America was a champion and hope of the world. They failed to protect very basic constitutional guarantees and essential civil rights of our own citizens. They intimidated our own citizens in the name of terrorism to the extent that the very term terrorism became synonymous with our own name. They disgraced our Supreme Court as well as violated the international laws. It is therefore imperative that our next President must be open, honest and protective of our constitution. He must work for the cause of humanity and be a savior of the environment. He must be a visionary as well as respectful to other nations, religions and cultures. His attitude towards the world should not be disrespectful but friendly and conciliatory. He should not use NATO as a tool to promote American crusade and hegemony but an instrument of harmony and world peace. He should work for the welfare of people, elimination of poverty in the US and abroad, improvement of the quality of education and promote better health facilities. He must be sharing and caring rather than a bully and war monger.
The coming elections have given a new hope to the people of this country and the world. They are very optimistic that the next President would be the savior of world peace. He will be fair to all citizens and will treat them equally. He will not use state instruments for spying, intimidation and incarceration of religious minorities or individuals of particular nationalities and faith. He will work along with other nations and world leaders to save our environment, eliminate poverty, hunger and disease. He will not threat or attack other nations due to his personal disliking. He will especially work with European leaders to solve chronic problems of the world like Kashmir and Palestine. He will give optimism and opportunity to immigrants currently living in this country. He will find ways to unite families as an alternative to keeping them apart. He will be a candle of hope rather than hollow of darkness. He will not be the hostage of some big corporations but true servant of people.
We are very hopeful that the new President will bring back the real American glory, a bastion of hope, opportunity and justice for all.
